Rolf Weichardt was was raised in a very conservative Afrikaans family during the apartheid years in South Africa, spending his formative years in strictly segregated schools and communities. In his final year of high school he had a personal encounter with God and committed his life to Christ, becoming and instrument in the dismantling of apartheid in his country. After completing his degree in Human Resource Management he became very active in Racial Reconciliation initiatives whilst serving with Youth for Christ.
In 1991 he founded the ministry of ‘Khanyisa’, a racially and culturally diverse group of South Africans that would preach the message of racial reconciliation through the medium of music and dance. Their passionate message was delivered from the ghettos of South Africa to churches, schools, prisons and state theatres in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, Slovakia, the Indian Ocean Islands, China and the USA.
In 2001 Rolf and his family returned to South Africa after living in the States for 6 years. For several years he served Youth for Christ as their Training Director and later as the National Director.
Currently Rolf and his family live on a farm, overseeing a project that aims at restoring dignity for rural African young people living in abject poverty, disadvantaged by decades of racial prejudice and oppression. He still is very passionate about training of creative arts teams who desire to be catalysts for change. Rolf has been married to Elizabeth for 32 years. They have 3 adult children, a teenage son and 4 grandchildren.
